John P. Beddoes, Jr.
John P. Beddoes Jr., aged 49, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lasalle Michigan on Tuesday the 29th of December 2020. John Jr. was born to John P. Sr. and Susan L. (Simon) Beddoes in Toledo, Ohio on April 1971. On May 15, 2004, he married Nancy A. Ehlert at St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe, MI. John was baptized at New Haven Baptist Temple in Farmington New Mexico in 2004. John and his family are currently members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie, MI.
John graduated from Bedford High School in 1989 and attended University of Toledo and Monroe County Community College, where he graduated with an Associate Degree in Business Management.
John was a self employed computer network engineer for several years before being hired by Washington Local Schools as a computer service technician. He loved his work there and was a valued employee, so much so that he was the only non-teacher ever to be recommended for and receive the Golden Apple Award. Due to a degenerative spinal disease, he was forced to medically retire in 2014.
John grew up with a love for the water and crewed on his father's sailboat for races at various locations on western Lake Erie. John always preferred powerboats and when he was able he bought the first of many which he owned over the years. He was a long time member of the Lake Erie Offshore Performance Association and enjoyed participating in their events with his family in their Baha powerboat.
John also loved flying and began working on a private pilot license when was 19. He remained an active pilot for many years and continued until family commitments and later health issues forced him out of the cockpit. However, he was able to satisfy his itch to fly through his computer flight simulator and also becoming a skilled radio control pilot. He particularly enjoyed putting on aerobatic demonstrations for his family, neighbors, and friends.
John's disability limited his ability to participate fully in many of his favorite activities, but still managed on a limited basis to ride a motorcycle, snow ski a little, and enjoy other activities with his sons, John Paul and Jacob; brother, Eric and longtime friend, Earl. John also owned a number of classic Mustangs that he worked on with his Dad. Most of all he loved being with his family, dog Sadie, and his pet chickens.
John is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, John P. III and Jacob Beddoes; mother, Susan Beddoes of Mechanicsburg, PA; father, John (stepmother Helen) Beddoes of Lambertville, MI; stepmother, Pam (Bob) O'Neill of Rossford, OH ; brother, Eric (Natasha) Beddoes of Mechanicsburg, PA; mother-in-law, Veronica Ehlert of LaSalle; brothers-in-law, Joseph Ehlert of LaSalle and Michael (Doreen) Ehlert of Monroe, MI; sister-in-law, Jill (Paul) Brazier of Rockwood, MI; and stepsister, Colleen O'Neil of Toledo, OH.
