John Eugene Bordner

John Eugene Bordner, age 88, passed away at his home in Toledo, Ohio, on December 12, 2018. He was born in Toledo on May 23, 1930. He attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and Central Catholic High School, graduating in 1948. John served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, Engineering Division, stationed in Austria. John's time in the service was spent mapping bridges and roads in Austria and postwar Germany. Following honorable discharge from active duty, he returned home and spent several years in the U.S. Army Reserve.

John married Helen Mary Curtas of Toledo on November 17, 1956. He was a loving spouse to her until his passing. In addition to the many hours John and Helen spent together raising their family, they also journeyed through life together as founders and owners of Architectural Arts (Digimatics, Inc.) from 1962 until retirement in 2018. John was well known in the area's business and construction communities leaving a lasting legacy in the industry. John was active until his passing in the West Toledo Council 3122 of the Knights of Columbus. Wherein he held various positions including Grand Knight.

John was predeceased by his younger brother, Gary (Patricia) Bordner and is survived by his sister, Donna (Abe) Williams of Florida. John is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Joan (Jeffrey) Berger, Carol (Mark) Kennedy, Linda (Patrick) Tansey, Elaine (John) Fischbach, and son, Thomas Bordner (Renee). John and Helen have fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

John will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and a faithful servant of his beloved Catholic faith.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 20, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N. Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Little Flower Catholic Church, 5522 Dorr Street, Toledo, Ohio, on Friday, December 21, at 11:00 a.m.
