John Dooley Obituary
John Charles Dooley passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024 surrounded by family. John was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 16, 1948 to Charles and May Dooley. After graduating from St. Francis de Sales High School in 1966, John attended Urbana University where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree. While at Urbana, John met the love of his life, Nancy (Sonnanstine) Dooley. John and Nancy were married on July 1, 1972.
During their 52 years of marriage, John and Nancy had three children, Charles Michael, Sean, and Meghan. John was also blessed with seven beautiful grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mackenzie, Delaney, J.T., Ava, Jack, and Julia. John loved all things Irish, his Ohio State Buckeyes, and above all, his family. John served as the first Athletic Director at Christ the King School and also coached many CK teams. He almost never missed an opportunity to attend his kids' and grandkids' sporting or school events, and he was always their biggest cheerleader. John was a devout Catholic. His faith was a source of strength especially in tough times.
John was a wonderful man. John will be remembered for being kind, loving, sentimental, a true family man, and for his unending love for Nancy. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
John is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Sean (Melissa); daughter, Meghan (Ted); and his seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and son, Charles Michael.
A memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King Church at 10:30 a.m. on July 11, 2024. There will be visitation one hour prior to the Mass from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Christ the King Athletics.
