Mr. Galyas was my typing teacher at Libbey High School. He attended our 25th reunion. When I introduced myself to him and asked if he remembered me, he said yes and also told me which seat I sat in in that class. He made the class fun. My sympathies to his family. Sincerely,

Coach Galyas Family

I played football for Coach Galas at Devilbiss and my brother Coached with him at Central Catholic. I would see him at the Varity BG Club events. He was an outstanding coach and person. I can still see him on the sidelines coaching the team up. My prayers are with his family.

To the Family of John Galyas Jr I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Mr. Galyas was one of my teachers at DeVilbiss. Throughout the years I have thought about him, and wondered what ever happened to him. I can still see him standing in the hallway outside of his class waiting for the bell to ring so he could lock out the late comers. LOL! I graduated from DeVilbiss in 1971 so you can only imagine how young he was at that time. I enjoyed reading everything he has done since that time. Family, be strong in your faith that is what will get you through this time of mourning.

Galyas Family,

Our sincere condolences to you for your loss. Coach Galyas, as I referred to him from the time I played for him until the last time I seen him, gave me an opportunity to represent Waite on the varsity football field as a young sophomore. I will always be greatful to him for his trust and belief in me. I always enjoyed our conversations later in life. Regardless if it was at the golf course, Toledo Club or just seeing him around town he always shared a smile and good story. God rest his soul until we meet again.

My office was at the Jefferson Center for several years and over that time John and I became good friends. He was a wonderful guy who took his job/mission seriously, and sincerely wanted his students to do well. We often had lunch together and I always enjoyed talking with him. You have my sincere sympathy.
