Dear Pat,

I hope that you will remember me. I have known you for many years. I use to work for Dr. Marion Anderson.

I am so terribly sorry for your recent loss of your husband John Hageman. Dr. Hageman did many leg procedures on me over the years. What a gentleman, a scholar - and a nice man. The world will miss him. Although I have not seen Dr. Hageman for several years I am already missing him.

God bless you and your family.

Dear Mrs. Hageman, What a loss to our world , your prescious John. I worked for him at the Defiance Clinic and have never incountered another human being like him. Dr. Hageman also performed surgery on two of my family members......he was always a sweet and kind man. Always offering words of kindness and never asking for anything in return. His patients always thought the world of him and with good reason. He was the kind of person everyone should strive to be like. I will miss him greatly and think of him often. You and your family are in my prayers. Love,Caroline Beatty

Dr. Hageman was such a dear man. I'll never forget the day at MCO that he realized that we'd both "married Donahues", and wouldn't you know it, our Donahues were related. I will miss him.

Dear Dr. Donahue,
So sorry to hear of John's passing. I always looked forward to his Christmas card each year and knowing he remembered me as a friend. I certainly remembered him as that. I learned so many things working with him that shaped the way I look at people. He cared for my grandmother Elsie like a good country doctor even though he did not have to do that but she loved him because she trusted him.
He and I learned together some early ultrasound procedures that made a difference in diagnostics and managment of a host of vascular problems. He loved you dearly and I'm glad you both got to share the years you did. His love of Ansel Adams always stuck with me and when ever I came across and exhibit or book of his work I thought of John. I'm so glad his faith was placed in God. No better place to be than cradled in His arms. I'll miss him living but I know I'll get to see him again.

Dear Hageman family, Dr Hageman was my hero. He saved my life a few years ago. I had to wait for his daily duties to be completed and when he arrived in the evening to my hospital it was apparent I was in good hands. I was sedated, but he reassured me. I asked him if he was too fatigued to do another surgery that day and he said, "No, my wife made me a sandwich and I had that on the way over!" The next day surgery nurses visited me to tell me how dangerous the surgery was and what a magnificent job he did. But the most important thing out of my half-drugged experience was that he reminded me so much of my own father from the moment I met him. My dad passed away in 1984 and he was also my hero. Dr Hageman will be in good company! He is in my heart forever.

Dear Pat,
I was so sorry to hear of Dr. Hageman's recent passing. He was truly a humble, dedicated doctor and the true meaning of a real gentleman.
