John P. Meacham
John P. Meacham passed away peacefully in the Lakes of Sylvania, with his family at his side, on November 18, 2025. He was born on August 5, 1938, in Toledo, to Russell and Blanche Meacham. He was the husband of Barbara Meacham and together they shared 47 years of marriage.
He served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator. He spent two years stationed in Germany, where he and his first wife, Nancie, gave birth to their first son, Michael. He also had the honor of being personally requested to sing for a General. John was employed for 34 years with the City of Toledo Health Department and worked as a sanitarian, inspecting places that sold and served food, eventually holding the position of Acting Commissioner.
John enjoyed singing, coin collecting, gardening, refinishing furniture, fishing and travelling. He enjoyed tropical fish and was a member of the Aquarium Society. He began singing at 6 years old. In 1960, he began singing barber shop music. He sang with quartets and the Toledo Chapter Chorus. Most recently, he sang with The Bowling Green Chapter of the Voices of Harmony.
John and Barbara traveled all over the 50 states in their motor home. During a European vacation in 2000, they visited Paris and were blessed to see the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany, which was only performed once every ten years. John is remembered for his generosity, kindness, patience and big smile.
