John Wanamaker Obituary
6/16/1940 - 5/24/2024
Jack Wanamaker, 83, of Toledo, OH passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024. He was born June 16, 1940 in Lima, OH to Carl and Cleora Wanamaker.
He graduated from St. Frances de Sales in 1958 and went on to John Carroll University. At John Carroll, he met Marilyn – the love of his life and they were married for over 60 years. After graduating, he went into the Navy as an officer.
After returning to Toledo to start a family, he would work at Wayne Lumber Company and Pella Windows, but his real dream was realized when he and Marilyn purchased Splendor Shower Door in 1978. He would grow Splendor for over 30 years from a local shower door installation company to a regional shower door manufacturer.
In 2013, Jack and Marilyn moved to Hilton Head Island.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Jay) Haynes of Milwaukee; sons, Tom (Cindy) Wanamaker of Toledo, Jim (Beth) Wanamaker of Cincinnati. 8 grandchildren, Abby (Karim), Claire, Jack (Crystal), Nick (Madison), Keri, Amy, Jason, Sarah. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn in 2023.

What a wonderful person. Jack was kind hearted, talented, funny and truly cared for others.

To the family:
Jack & Marilyn were a fun-loving couple that we met in Hilton Head Island. I recall doing yoga with Jack at Jiva Joga when they first came to the Island.
We wrote a funny story in a X mas letter from their Racoon Family visitors to their swimming pool, which we and they cherished. We miss them both. Friends, Dennis & Lydia Chojnacki.
