Jon Rhoades Obituary

Jon Michael Rhoades

09/11/1966 - 12/31/2025

Jon Michael Rhoades, 59, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away December 31, 2025. He was born September 11, 1966, in Toledo, Ohio, to Jon R. Rhoades and Barbara (Prentice) Hall.

Jon obtained his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from BGSU. He began work at YRC Freight in 1988, retiring in 2021. He began a second career as the office manager at Zion Lutheran Evangelical Church in Waterville. In 2024, he graduated from the Lutheran Diakonia program and began his true calling as a Synod Authorized Minister with the Disciples of Christ Parish, along the Maumee River, spreading his love of the gospel and ministering to the congregations, especially the children, with his Pastor Meg Boger.

He was a member of the ministry of the Great Banquet, the Anthony Wayne Food Ministry and the Fremont Yacht Club. Jon loved all music and was a music trivia king. He enjoyed attending concerts and watching Ohio sports, loving the Buckeyes, the Cleveland Guardians, and the ever-disappointing Cleveland Browns.

Jon's greatest joy was his family, especially joyful about his newest role as grandfather to Nolan Ryan.

Jon is survived by his sons, Adam Rhoades (Emily), Connor Rhoades (Ashlyn); grandson, Nolan; granddaughter on the way; his partner and love, Tracy Armentrout; his mother, Barbara Hall; step-mother, Barbara Rhoades; siblings, Lori Carson, Sheryl deJong (Paul), Joni Willhite, and Cory Rhoades (Barbara); as well as 3 nephews, 7 nieces, 3 great-nephews, 5 great-nieces; and his two dog children, Abigail and Peanut.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jon Rhoades; and step-father, Howard Hall.

A Celebration of Jon's life will be held during warmer weather. A parish candlelight prayer vigil is planned for January 13th, at 7 p.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, in Waterville, Ohio. All future arrangements will be available there.

Memorial contributions may be given to Zion Lutheran Evangelical Church in Waterville, or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Haskins.

Adam and Connor,
A father´s love leaves a mark that time can never erase. I know that both of you will find comfort in the memories you shared and know how deeply he loved you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you both and your family.

To Adam and Connor-
Your dad loved you more than anything in this world. That love did not end when he left. It lives in the way you laugh, the way you think, the way you care. It lives in your memories, and in the stories you will continue to talk about him.
There will be days when you miss him so much it feels heavy, and days when you can smile again. Both are okay. Grief doesn´t mean forgetting-it means loving someone who mattered deeply.
You are not alone. I am here, always. Please just take this one day, one step at a time.
I can´t say it enough how much I love you. You are my world. And even though your dad cannot be here in the way you wish, he will always be part of you.
To Tracy, his moms, sisters, brother, and family:
My sincere thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I cannot begin to say how sorry I am for the loss of Jon. I will continue to pray for healing and peace.
