Joseph S. Tesznar

Joseph S. Tesznar died October 8, 2022. He was 83.

Joe's first, and abiding interest was dogs. At the age of 5, he waded into a dog fight, using a broom to protect his grandmother's dog from an aggressor dog. The worst part was not the emergency room, nor the stitches in Joe's lip, but the fact that the dog warden came out and got the aggressor dog! Joe's last dog was a stray that a neighbor brought to Joe's door in November, 2021.

By the sixth grade, Joe had decided on electricity as a career. He was a well respected construction electrician from high school to age 65, in his later years with Local 8 IBEW.

Joe was always game for new adventures. He learned to scuba dive in his 50s, got a bachelor's degree in 1996 (at age 57) and learned to blow glass in his 60s. He traveled to all seven continents, sometimes on a moment's notice. He was always available for sporting events, theater productions, and any musical concerts. Joe eagerly tried (and generally enjoyed) all sorts of food.

Joe adored his family, particularly his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hosting family dinners and taking trips together. Joe often rented a beach house in Charleston, South Carolina, and was delighted when his family could join him there.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Tesznar and Mary Hunyor Tesznar; and his daughter, Teresa Stremmel.

Joe is survived by his wife, Cynthia Wilson Tesznar; his brother, Robert Tesznar (Patti); his daughters, Barbara Veronica and Sandra Harsh; his son-in-law, Todd Stremmel; and wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joe's cremains will be interred at Toledo Memorial Park. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers or other tribute, Joe suggests experiencing a new adventure, such as a meal, a trip, a show, or a class, in memory of him. American Cremation Events assisted the family with arrangements.
