Joyce Amstutz Obituary

Joyce Nancy Amstutz

April 6, 1951 - November 2, 2025

Joyce Nancy Amstutz, 74, of Maumee, OH, has embraced the comfort of the Lord after fighting courageously with strength and grace for the past ten years to defeat the ugliness that is cancer. She transcended this world early Sunday morning, November 2, 2025. She was the epitome of positivity and touched so many during her time on this Earth. The daughter of Leonard and Wanda Kowalski, she was born April 6th, 1951, in Toledo.

Joyce grew up in the Polish Village and always maintained a strong sense of pride for her Polish heritage. She married the love of her life, Mike, August 27th, 1971. She worked as a postpartum nurse at The Toledo Hospital for 42 years, guiding new mothers while providing a sense of security and calm as they navigated their new journey into motherhood. Her energy was palpable, always eager to offer a kind word or an empathetic ear. Joyce lived for her children and grandchildren, never missing a game or recital, always cheering in the stands.

The many friendships she has made over her lifetime speak to the purity of her soul. She truly was one of God's angels on Earth. She was blessed with friendships that lasted decades, from neighbors to best friends, Terry and Sandy have been two of her most important bonds, along with Judy and Barb. Joyce loved all of the amazing women she worked with, especially Ann and Sue, Carol and Becky, Julie and Trish, Sue Johnston, neighbors, Kathy, Esther, and Becky, and all the people who loved her, especially the Dining Divas and Bunco girls. She loved the time she spent with her cousins at the Jersey Shore, especially Carol. She was so thankful to have a sister in law like Chris, the sister she never had. She was blessed to gain even more sisters, Marla and Shar, and friends like Darrell and Connie filled her with happiness.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, and stepmother, Wilma. Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Mike; her children, Mike (Lena) and Kim (Ben) Bott; grandchildren, Connor, Brendan, and Liam; brothers, Larry (Susan), Rick (Chris), and Greg Kowalski; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Thank you to all who helped make her passing as peaceful as possible. Special thanks to Ann, Becky, and Carol, who helped care for Joyce in her final days, along with her daughter, Kim.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 10th, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel), 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose Catholic Church, in Perrysburg, at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, November 11th, 2025. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
