Keith WATKINS Obituary

WATKINS Keith Keith Watkins, age 58, of Sylvania Twp., went to be with the Lord Monday, November 21, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family after an 8 year battle with cancer. He was born on March 19, 1953 to Miles and Peace (McDonald) Watkins in Martin, South Dakota. Keith was an attorney for over 30 years. His love of music led him down many paths of ministries. Keith was in a Praise Band for over 10 years and offered music at many meal distributions, nursing homes, and at family gatherings. Most important to Keith were his faith and his family. He was a camp counselor for youth for many years at Camp Rejoice. Keith volunteered with his children's sporting events. He was an avid fisherman, card and pool player and loved nothing more than spending time with his family. Keith was a kind, generous, loving husband, father and brother, who even through his battle with cancer always said, "Life Is Good" and presented to his family many teaching moments for a positive outlook on life. He was preceded in death by his parents. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Paula (Andray) Watkins; children, Adam, Angela and Andrew; siblings, Judy (Bill) Greenburg, Angus (Ann) Watkins, Carol Watkins, Bonnie (John) Watkins and Norman (Heather) Watkins; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family will receive guests on Thursday from 5 - 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 2 - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Fairgreen Presbyterian Church, 3220 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo. Keith was such a kind, giving man who donated his services to Family Promise of Greater Toledo. It was so difficult for him to say, "I just can't serve any longer". It wasn't too long ago that I saw him playing volley ball always optimistic and hopeful. What a gift to have known Keith. He loved his family. May God grant you all strength during this time.

It was our pleasure and honor to get to know Keith in the last year or so. We remember many times he would come to the Life Group Bible study with favorite verses or readings to share with us, and that said a lot of what was in his heart, and is a testament to the kind of man he was. We will miss you. With Love, from The Bensch Family

Keith Watkins was one wonderful man...an excellent example of how to live and love, how to courageously battle the big C and how to gracefully die. We all have fond memories of his music and of him.

We have so many warm memories of times with Keith and his family! Keith was a great game player, musician, fisherman, and conversationalist. He loved to play his guitar and sing, we loved to hear him. We will truly miss this wonderful man. Godspeed, dear Keith - we will always love you.

i remember my cousin's compassion, caring, and love of music. i really enjoyed singing with him a year or so ago at judy's home...we thought we sounded pretty good together and attributed that to having common watkins genes.

holding you all in my heart,
cousin sandy
