Kenneth Langenderfer Obituary

Kenneth Langenderfer

12/6/1933 - 02/01/2025

Kenneth Langenderfer of Richfield Center, Ohio, passed away February 1st, 2025, at The Grove at Oakleaf Village in Toledo, Ohio. Ken was born December 6th, 1933, in Berkey, Ohio, to Omer and Minnie (Buckenmeyer) Langenderfer. He graduated from Metamora High School in 1952, and served in Korea with the U.S. Army until 1955. He married Ruth Creque on April 18, 1953, and they enjoyed over 72 years together.

Ken was the owner of Ken Langenderfer Builders for over 40 years. He built over 100 houses in the Toledo area. He enjoyed hunting pheasants, traveling to South Dakota every year with a large group of friends. For over 50 years he played in the "Card Club", a monthly rotating card game with close friends. He loved tending his large garden, where tomatoes were his specialty. Growing up on the family farm was a source of frequent memories; when he was 8 years old, he learned about the Pearl Harbor attack while listening to the barn radio while milking the cows.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Sally Creque); children, Lisa (Lou) Belle of Jeffersonville, NY; Philip Langenderfer (Palak) of Downers Grove, IL; grandchildren, Nate, Tej, and Quinn Langenderfer; sister, Elaine Langenderfer; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clifford Langenderfer (Nelda), both deceased, Harold Langenderfer (Joan), both deceased; sisters, Jean Simon (Mac) both deceased, June King (former spouse, Jim) both deceased, and Kathryn "Kitty" Donahue (Bob) both deceased.

Visitation will be Friday, February 7th, 2025, at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main, Sylvania, Ohio, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass will be held Saturday, 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church (Holy Trinity) Raabs Corners, with burial following. A lunch will be held at Holy Trinity Parish Hall, Assumption, Ohio, following the burial.

The family wishes to thank his special nurse, Carrie Smith, of Berkey, and the staff of the Lakes of Sylvania and The Grove at Oakleaf Village of Sylvania for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity Parish, or the Toledo Humane Society. Condolences can be made online at

Kenny built the home we grew up in. No one builds houses like he did! My parents got a call from a family friend tonight as we were finishing dinner . Their daughter Lisa was my best friend growing up and we wish the family well, they were a big part of helping us grow up in a great community!

Gonna miss Uncle Kenny coming over to the farm. I remember playing in the dirt at his house as a little kid. R.I.P.

When Kenny was Building our home there came the time to put in the septic tank and leach field. Kenny told my wife we he was going to have the leach field dug and my wife asked Kenny where are you going to get all the leaches to fill the field. Kenny looked at us and began laughing until he almost cried. Being from the "City" we had no clue . Everytime we saw Kenny after that he would ask us how the leaches were doing. God Bless you Kenny

I have been caring for Ken for a few years and I have never had a patient who could always make me happy no matter what was going on that day. He had the warmest and most genuine smile and I will miss that very much! To all of his family and friends ... may God's comfort be with you and may we all be reminded of how blessed we were to have him in our lives.
