Kent Seagert Obituary

Kent Richard Seagert

Kent Richard Seagert, age 75, of Waterville, Ohio, peacefully entered Heaven on October 1, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 11, 1948, in Toledo and graduated from Whitmer High School in 1966. He went on to serve in the United States Navy.

Kent was skilled with his hands and loved working with wood. He was a finish carpenter with his dad's business, Seagert & Sons, for several years. He then went to work as a finish carpenter at The Toledo Zoo for nearly 30 years until he retired. He also proudly helped with the construction of the Toledo Covenant Church.

An avid sports fan, Kent especially enjoyed supporting the Detroit Lions and Tigers. He was an excellent golfer and could often be found at Riverby Hills Golf Course where he was the club champion on several occasions. Kent was a faithful member of Redemption Church in Monclova Township. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his beloved family, particularly on camping trips and visiting their favorite vacation destination, Pawley's Island, South Carolina. Kent will also be remembered for his love of all things chocolate – especially Peanut M&M's.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 40 years, Terri (nee Pollock) Seagert; mother, Betty Seagert; children, Jamey Koralewski (Steve), Brandon Seagert, and Jennifer Seagert; grandchildren, Hannah (Kristen), Emma, Griselda, Grace, and Milo; sister, Diane Calcamuggio (Larry). He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Seagert, on December 29, 2013.

The family will receive guests for visitation from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Redemption Church, 8605 Salisbury Road, Monclova, OH 43542.

A Celebration of Life memorial service to honor Kent will be held immediately following at 4 p.m.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations in Kent's name be made to the "Because of Logan" fund (becauseoflogan.com) to assist with swim safety awareness, education, training, and support of families who have endured a loss through childhood drowning.

I was fortunate enough to work with Kent at the Toledo Zoo. He was always cheerful, kind (with a love of teasing!) and SO competent with his carpentry projects. Imagine our mutual surprise to discover we were more connected than we knew... his sister was married to my husband´s cousin. I am so very sorry I did not learn of Kent´s passing until this evening. I would surely have attended his memorial service, as he was such a great person worthy of celebrating. Despite my being a liberal Democrat, we truly enjoyed one another´s company! Profound sympathy to his family and friends for this sad loss.
