Lawrence G. "Larry" Pedersen, 87, of Locust Grove, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in Oregon, Ohio. Larry was born on August 16, 1938, in Saline, Kansas, to Lester and Mildred (Morris) Pedersen. As a child, Larry's family lived throughout the United States, spending time in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Michigan. He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Pittsburg State University, in Kansas. Larry proudly served in the United States Army, where he was stationed around the world working in accounting. Following his military service, Larry continued his career in accounting for the U.S. Government, including a position at the White House under President Jimmy Carter. He later established a private accounting practice, where he worked diligently for more than 60 years, retiring in 2018. Larry cherished life on his farm in Virginia, where he tended beehives, pressed fresh apple cider from his orchard, and cared for countless animals. A talented banjo player, he enjoyed playing weekly with a group of friends in Locust Grove. He was also a longtime square dance caller and dancer, and devoted volunteer at the county fair, giving generously of his time and spirit.
Larry is survived by his children, Chris Pedersen and Katrina Canfield; his longtime companion, Gale Bishop; grandchildren, Buddy and Nathaniel; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jayden; sister, Ruth Glenn; dear cousin, Jim (Kathy) Pedersen; and close family friends, Verna Westcott and Daniel Juarez. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon "Sheri"; and his brother, Bill.
Private services will be held in Locust Grove, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Healing Barn of Millbury, Ohio, or to an animal rescue organization of your choice. Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home is assisting the family.
