Lawrence Ervin Van Vlerah, age 92, of Maumee, OH entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 1, 2023. Lawrence was born December 15, 1930 in Toledo to Ervin and Lola (Hoy) Van Vlerah. He was President and owner of Perrysburg Machine & Tool and L & R Industries in Sumter, SC for more than 43 years before retiring in 2009. He then began a second career in real estate with DiSalle Realty, and later, Key Realty. Lawrence was a member of the Toledo Gospel Tabernacle (now First Alliance), Perrysburg Alliance and most recently Westgate Chapel.
In addition to his parents, Lawrence was also preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Van Vlerah, Cleah DiNardo, Youvan Coleman, Nancy Sexton, and David Van Vlerah. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Ruth Marie Van Vlerah; son, Michael (Jill) Van Vlerah; daughter, Michelle (Douglas) Davidson; grandchildren, Andrew (Megan O'Hearn) Davidson, Arielle (Matt) Harbauer, Emily (Will) Harbauer, Joshua (Brianna) Van Vlerah; and great-grandchildren, Harrison, Beckett, Paul, David, and Charlotte.
The family greatly appreciates the loving care shown to Larry by everyone at Maumee Pointe Assisted Living, DaVita Fallen Timbers Dialysis, and Ohio Living Home Hospice.
The family will receive guests Monday, March 6, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian & Missionary Alliance Great Commission Fund in Lawrence's memory.
