Leah Fager Obituary

Leah Fern (Stair) Fager

Leah Fern (Stair) Fager passed away into the presence of the Lord the morning of September 4, 2025, in her daughter's home in Woodville, Ohio. She was born on May 2, 1933, in Holland, Ohio, the daughter of Orval and Goldie (Vesey) Stair, and the youngest of nine siblings. She was a graduate of Holland High School in 1951. She worked at Toledo Edison prior to marriage. She then married Robert Leo Fager on May 30, 1952, in Decatur, Indiana, and together they started their dream of having a big family. She then worked at Anderson General Store in Northwood and Maumee later in life. And after the loss of her husband in 1997, she devoted herself to the Lord, became a member of Cornerstone Church in Maumee, Ohio, where she was beloved by many, and also the Head of the Nursing Home Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her siblings, LaVonne Osborne, Genevieve Foltz, Betty Barnes, Veryl Sharples, Marjorie Druchel, Albert Stair, Hattie O'Conner, and Winona Bahler; her husband of 45 years, Robert Leo Fager; four of her children, Robert Fager Jr., Susan Marie Fager, Richard Earl Fager, and John Albert Fager; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda McMullen Fager; two grandchildren, Matthew Joseph Fager, John Eichner; one great-grandchild, Nicholas Fendley; and her lifelong best friend, Marilyn Hott.

She is survived by her children, Dan and Betty Fager, Sam Fager, Louise Zunk, Ed and Rhonda Fager, Mary Abbas, Tom and Beth Fager, and Karen Matson; her grandchildren, Jessica, David, Christopher, Brian, Kristi, Bradley, Michael, Robert, Theodore, James, Nathan, Michelle, Jason, Brian, Diana, Zion, Isaac, Bethany, Israel, and Evan; her great-grandchildren, Isaac, Anderson, Everly, Owen, Elise, Quinn, Everett, Brooklyn, Kylee, Nolan, Kaelyn, Emmett, Kolt, Brayden, Hadley, Zachary, Michael, Elly, Tori, Kailee, Sasha, Hudson, Peyton, Noah, Pierce, and Kiera.

She had many things that she loved, but her favorite was spending time with family, friends, and ministry. She enjoyed ministering the love and faithfulness of God to others. Her guilty pleasures included chocolate everything, cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, Wendy's, and Christian television. In 1995, her husband gifted her the trip of a lifetime to the Holy Land on Dr. Lester Sumrall's last tour. With her two children, she saw the birthplace of Jesus, took communion on the Sea of Galilee, stood in the olive grove of Gethsemane, swam in the Dead Sea, saw the oldest scroll of Isaiah found in Qumran Valley, and took a long and scary bus ride over the Valley of the Shadow of Death. She made lifelong friends with everyone on the tour, and will always be remembered as the lady who made the bus stop so she could ride a camel. She will forever be known for her hugs, love, kindness, and rosy outlook on life, how she welcomed everyone into her home with or without an invitation, comforted those who mourned or experienced tragedy, and hugged and loved everyone without prejudice, her ability to give God glory in all situations, her thoughtful gift giving, and all of the sacrifices she made for her family, her church, and her close friends.

Her visitation will be on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 2-8 p.m., at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd., in Oregon, Ohio, 43616. The celebration of her life will be on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 10 a.m. Luncheon will be held immediately after the funeral ceremony at The Church on Strayer, 3000 Strayer Rd., Maumee, OH 43537. The committal service will be held at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery in Maumee, Ohio. Please come and share your memories and stories with her children about how she has touched your life.

Gerry Snyder

September 12, 2025

This is Gerry and Sharon Snyder. We were in northern Kentucky this past weekend at our granddaughters wedding, and were sorry to hear of Leah's passing. Leah was a dedicated Christian who spent time visiting and praying with residents at the nursing home adjacent to St. Charles hospital. I went over there several times to play praise and worship music, and Leah would preach to the residents. She would take time to visit with them and pray with them, which they greatly appreciated!
We met Leah at Cornerstone Church and realized that her late husband, Bob, was my first cousin. My mother was Bernetta Kreuz Snyder, the youngest of the Kreuz girls, from Peter & Mary Kreuz. Aunt Mary Kreuz Fager, the oldest child of Peter and Mary Kreuz's twelve children, was Bob's mother. As a child, I may have met Aunt Mary on one or two occasions.
Again, we wish to extend our sincere condolences to all of the Fager Family. May God's Holy Spirit be your comforter during this time, and rejoice that Leah is in the arms of Jesus!
