Lester Miller Obituary
6/8/1931 - 1/2/2024
Lester J. Miller went to heaven on January 2, 2024. He was 92 years old. He was born June 8, 1931, in Nappanee IN, to Joseph and Amanda (Schmucker) Miller. On July 29, 1956, he married Martha Yoder.
Lester was born into an Amish family and only had an 8th grade education prior to getting his GED. After his alternate military service at Kalamazoo State Hospital, he took Med Tech training at Mercy Hospital. He retired from Mercy after over 30 years.
He attended Toledo (Bancroft) Mennonite Church, and helped plant a church in Whitehouse, OH. He championed the work of the Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission and served on the board for many years. He loved God and believed the service he did was an important part of living out his faith.
Lester is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Dee) Miller of Toledo OH; son, Karlton (Carol) Miller of Haven KS; grandchildren, Nicholle (Chris) Hawkins, Justin (Jessica) Miller, Caleb Miller, Cory Miller; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha, his parents, siblings, and son, Kenton Miller.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Toledo Mennonite Church, 5501 Nebraska Ave, Toledo OH. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission.
