M. JANOWIEC Obituary

JANOWIEC Sister M. Margaret, OSF 1920-2010 Sister M. Margaret Janowiec died on February 1, 2010, in her room at Rosary Care Center where she had lived among her Sisters in religion for several years. The former Veronica Janowiec was born to Nicholas and Magdalene (Miskowiec) Janowiec on August 2, 1920, in Minneapolis, MN. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis in Sylvania, OH, on August 16, 1939, from Holy Cross Parish in Minneapolis, MN. Her first vows were taken on August 18, 1942 and her final vows on August 18, 1945. Sister Margaret's life was lived with great joy and a sense of willingness to do whatever was asked of her. She taught hundreds of students in the primary grades in Detroit and Toledo for 17 years and was then prepared to become Treasurer of the Sylvania Franciscans after receiving her MBA from the University of Notre Dame. She also became an avid fan of her alma mater. Sister served as Treasurer for 26 years and at that time was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Sisters' hospitals in Sandusky (Providence) and Steubenville (St. John Medical Center), OH and Holy Cross Hospital in Detroit, MI. She also served on the board of Franciscan Properties, Sylvania, OH. Sister Margaret will be remembered for her love for and dedication to her Sisters, her inspiration to her students and gracious smile and manner to all she met. She continued to minister wherever she could until failing health brought her to Rosary Care Center where she engaged in Third Age Ministry-a time of prayer for the community and the many needs of the world as well as a time of preparation for her own final good-by. She will be missed by her loving family and her Sisters in community. She will be welcomed home at 6:00pm on Thursday, February 4, 2010, in a special ceremony in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at the Motherhouse of the Sylvania Franciscans. A liturgy celebrating her life will be held at 4:00pm, Friday, February 5, 2010, in the Chapel. Donations and memorials may be sent to the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, OH. Arrangements made by Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, Toledo, OH.
