M. Yourish Obituary

YOURISH Sister M. Justin Sister M. Justin Yourish, 99, a Sister of St. Francis, Sylvania, OH, died February 18, 2008, at the Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, OH. She was born Mary Yourish on February 7, 1909, to John and Victoria (Kellar) Yourish in Crabtree, PA. On October 6, 1940, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, OH from St. Barbara Parish in Cleveland, OH. Her final vows were professed on August 18, 1946. Sister Justin's ministry to her Community was in the form of domestic service in many convents, beginning in 1943 at SS. Peter & Paul in Detroit, MI. Other convents in Michigan where she served include: St. Cunegunda Convent, Detroit and St. Ladislaus Convent, Hamtramck. Sister ministered at Mercy Hospital Convent, Liberty, TX and St. Mary Hospital, North Platte, NE. Following her years at Gill Memorial Hospital, Steubenville. In 1958, Sister returned to her Motherhouse in Sylvania, where she was a familiar face in St. Joseph Kitchen until 1994, when she moved to Rosary Care Center and began her Third Age Ministry. Sister Justin leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Mildred Cultrona and Helen Bedoes; many (15) nieces and nephews; many dear friends, and her Sisters in Community. A Welcoming Service will be held at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, OH on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. Her remains will be moved to Madonna Hall for viewing until 8:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. until her Funeral Liturgy begins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2008, in Queen of Peace Chapel on the Franciscan Campus grounds. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, OH. Arrangements by the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home (419-531-4424).
