Margaret Kaminski Obituary
03/10/40 - 02/08/23
Margaret (Marge) Jean Kaminski passed away peacefully February 8, 2023, in Matteson, Illinois surrounded by her family. She was born March 10, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio to William Herbert and Edna (Berry) Evans.
Marge attended Trilby Elementary and was a 1959 graduate of Whitmer High School. She was a long-time member of Daughters of the British Empire where she celebrated her British heritage (Welsh/English). She loved sailing and college football. She was a longtime member of the Jolly Rogers Sailing Club and an avid diehard University of Michigan football fan. Go Blue! Gardening was also a passion of Margaret's. She not only maintained vegetable gardens but her backyard flower gardens rivaled those in her home country England. For many years, Marge worked as an administrative assistant at Trust Corp/Key Bank where she supported senior executives. In retirement, Margaret moved to Fort Myers, Florida where she enjoyed the year-round warmth and sunny days. While in Florida, she reconnected with so many Toledo friends who visited during the winter and made new local friends through her church and when she volunteered at the Goodwill in her neighborhood.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Carlton Kaminski; and survived by her children, Kevin Kaminski of Meade, CO, Greg (Katy) Kaminski of Chicago,IL, and Pam (Kevin) Grotke of Frankfort, IL; and their 3 children, Jack, Ryan, and Kate who Nanna loved dearly; her sister, Patricia Lynn (Joe) Thurston of Carmel, IN; and her long-time partner, Fred Weaver, of Fort Myers, FL.
On Saturday, August 5th visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 5240 Talmadge Road, Toledo, Ohio. Following the service an interment at Toledo Memorial Park Mausoleum, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania will begin at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association or any Hospice of your choice.
