Mark Muir Obituary

Mark W. Muir

Mark W. Muir, age 70, of Perrysburg, Ohio died Sunday night, July 24, 2022 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Toledo, after complications associated with heart surgery in mid-June. Mark was born May 15, 1952 in Perrysburg, Ohio as the son of the late Jack Muir and Ruth (Wehde) Shaffer. He married the love of his life, Cathy "Catie" (Wipert) May 4, 2018 and she survives him at home.

Mark was a graduate of Perrysburg High School, Ohio University in Athens and the Ohio Wesleyan College of Divinity in Delaware, Ohio. During college Mark worked summers on Block Island, RI where he made lifelong friendships with Jim Dewey, Rich Metzger and John Habbe. Mark also lived for many years in Salt Lake City before returning to Perrysburg where he established and co-owned, with his brother, Fat Jack's Bar and Grill. In 2012, Mark suffered a horrific accidental fall leaving him partially paralyzed. Cathy assisted him daily thereafter. Cathy, a former nurse, with support from his family and especially Phil and Sandi Dombay, helped Mark live the best life possible. She was by his side up until the moment of his passing.

Mark is survived by Cathy's children, whom he thought of as his own, Jeffrey Saunders and Victoria Saunders; Cathy's grandchildren, Deklan, Rylan, Parker and Alayna; brothers, Scott (Laurie) Muir and Tim Muir; sister, Cristina "Cris" (John) White; and many friends; as well as his furkid, Sonny. Mark is preceded in death by his stepfather, Jack Shaffer; grandmother "Gram"; and Cathy's son, Nicholas Saunders. In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no public services observed. There will be a Celebration of Life at Mark's favorite restaurant, The Rose & Thistle in Perrysburg at a later date. The Timson & Melroy Funeral Home are handling his arrangements. timsonmelroy.com

I lived next door to Mark's dad Jack and he spoke of you and Mark often. Especially after he talked sports with Mark on the phone. He always said how blessed Mark was to have you in his life. My prayers are with you at this time. Hold on to the memories.
