Martha L. "Marty" Farmer

Martha L. (Branski) Farmer, 83, of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, at home. She was born on June 17, 1942, in Fremont, OH, the oldest child of John and Lois (Hunt) Branski, Sr. Marty was a 1960 graduate of Fremont St. Joseph's High School and a 1963 graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo.

Marty married James J. Farmer on June 18, 1966, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Fremont, OH, and he survives. They met in 1964 in the pediatrics department at Mercy Hospital in Toledo where she was working as a nurse and Jim was training to be a medical technologist.

Marty's life was one of service and care for others. She nursed, fed and supported countless patients, family members, friends, children of friends and foster babies for over 50 years, until a stroke gave us the opportunity to care for her.

In addition to husband Jim, Marty is survived by her children, Susan (Mike) Skitowski, Maumee; David (Pauline) Farmer, Annapolis, MD; Paul (Lynnette) Farmer, Barrington, IL; and Colleen (Ken) Ellis, Canton, MI; grandchildren, Alex and Joey Skitowski; Charlie, Sophie and Will Farmer; and August, Lauren and Kirsten Ellis; brothers-in-law, David Farmer, Gary Farmer, Sr., and Terry Hansen; sisters-in-law, Patricia Farmer and Jakki Branski; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jean van den Arend and Ruth Ann Hansen; brother, John Branski, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Farmer and Linda Farmer; and brother-in-law, Hood van den Arend.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Coyle Funeral and Cremation Services, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH. Funeral service will take place at 12 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo, OH.
