Marty, affectionately known as PopPop, to his grandkids, passed away peacefully September 3, 2024.

Born April 25, 1946, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Martin and Velma (Mullinaux) Hauptman. He was the second of four children; sisters, Jerilyn Flynn (Mike) and Diana and brother, John (Debbie). He is survived by all of his siblings and their spouses.

Marty graduated from Trinity High School in Bloomington and earned his bachelor's degree from Illinois State University. His college education was interrupted by his service to his country in the United States Army from April 1968 – April 1970.

Marty, with his father, previously owned and operated a Shakey's Pizza in Bloomington where his kids enjoyed making pizza and birthday parties. Later he worked and retired from Coca Cola in Toledo, Ohio.

In his free time, Marty loved military history, traveling (especially to the U.S. National Parks) and, of course, pizza. One of his favorite trips was traveling Route 66 from Illinois to California. Most of all he enjoyed time with his family and especially his grandkids.

Marty is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy; three children - Kelly Delaney (Paul), Reed and Scott (Brittany); seven grandchildren – Andrew and Campbell Delaney, Jackson, Anna and Luke Hauptman and Tanner and Ryan Hauptman; sisters-in-law, Patty Mitchell and Kathie Scott (Tom); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marty's legacy of courage, strength and dedication to his family and country will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Special thanks to the Rogel Cancer Center at the University of Michigan who were exceptionally professional and caring though a difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for Marty at a later date. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnel to Towers, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or the organization of their choice.
