BETHEL Mary Jane Mary Jane Bethel, age 86, of Holland passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Mary Jane was born in Holland on January 24, 1923, to Ray and Leita (Holcomb) Irwin. She married Frank "Dick" Bethel on June 14, 1942, and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1994. A member of the Holland Free Methodist Church, Mary Jane taught Sunday School for many years and also became involved with many community activities including 4-H, becoming a Cub Scout Leader, member of the Holland-Springfield Historical Society and Young at Heart. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, sister and friend she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her sons, James R. (Jeanne) Bethel, Robert A. (Diane) Bethel; daughters, Mary Leita Stacy, Patricia L. Travis; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grand-children; brothers, Glenn (Emily) Irwin, Fred (Winnie) Irwin and sister, Dorothy Wood. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin Irwin, Don Williams and sister, Lois Irwin. Friends and family will be received in the Neville Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland (419-865-8879) from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted from the Holland Free Methodist Church, 6605 Angola Rd., Wednesday, June 17, 2009, where the family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Springfield Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Holland Free Methodist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Elizabeth Scott, St. Luke's Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their loving care, concern and compassion shown to Mary Jane and her family during her time of need. To all of Mrs. B's family,
I am truly sorry to know of Mrs B's passing, She was dear to me, as we share so many wonderful gifts of God, our children, grand children and great grand children...She was a warm, and loving mother , grandmother , to all her children. Know that I will be sadden that her place in our lives is void right now, but she is at peace, and warmly welcomed in Heaven by Mr. B., your father, grandfather, gr. grandfather. I am sure she had the best anniversary present ever, when she reunited with Mr. B. on their anniversary, June 14. My prayers are for you, that are left here for a while, but you will all be together once again, until then just think of Mrs. B. as on her trip to see your Dad and our Heavenly Father.
