Mary E.
Mary E. Rattigan, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Lakes of Monclova. She was born on September 19, 1926 in Oregon to Paul and Mary (Konecny) Cajka. She was raised in Lake Township and graduated from Lake High School in 1944. In her youth, she was involved in a Czech dancing club through the Catholic Workman's Association. Following graduation, she went to work for Owens Illinois as a secretary, eventually becoming a teletype specialist. She was employed with OI for over 40 years and was considered to be one of the best in her field. She married William Rattigan on June 28, 1952 and they spent 55 wonderful years together and enjoyed traveling Europe. Mary had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and always had a smile on her face. She had kind words for everyone, was a peacemaker and had a very comforting personality. She also enjoyed entertaining family and friends, especially at Thanksgiving, cooking, baking, cross stitching, knitting and dogs. She was a lifelong member of All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford. She was a loving wife, sister, and aunt and will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her sisters-in-law, Jane Cajka and Patricia Wojton; and brother-in-law, Donald Rattigan. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; and her siblings, Lillian Pollock, Joe Cajka and Frank Cajka.
Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Rd. on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, February 13, 2017 at All Saints Catholic Church, 628 Lime City Rd., beginning at 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., at which time A Mass of Christian Burial will take place with Rev. Anthony Recker officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Perrysburg, Township. Contributions may be directed to All Saints Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
