Maurine Sarver



Maurine Ziems, age 103, born July 15, 1912, to Hobart and Louise Dunbar of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away Tuesday evening, December 1, 2015, at Wynwood Assisted Living Facility in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Due to Maurine's strong will and love of life for over a century she preceded two loving husbands. Maurine was married to Roger Sarver of Perrysburg, Ohio until his death in 1967. She was to married Milton S. Ziems of Maumee, Ohio until his death in 2004. Maurine was blessed with life, close family, dear friends, and wonderful experiences.

Maurine is survived by her sister, Ruth Dunbar Walker, of Toledo, Ohio; daughter, Christine Sarver Davis; grandchildren, Kenneth P. Davis and Julie (Davis) Futrell (John Futrell) all of Chapel Hill, NC. Surviving Ziems family members are son-in-law, Tom Ziems (Gretchen B. Ziems) of Perrysburg, Ohio; granddaughter, Lisa Ziems Borras (Francisco Borras) of Chicago, Illinois, and Nancy and Rob Ziems. Maurine has 8 surviving great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Maurine graduated Valedictorian of Rossford High school in 1930, was an avid volunteer for the Red Cross, physicians receptionist and caretaker. She had a thirst for knowledge, an insatiable interest in the lives of her family and friends and was dedicated to staying in touch by written correspondence. She touched the lives of many and will surely be missed.

The family has chosen to celebrate her life with a plaque dedication at a later date at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Maumee, Ohio to honor both Maurine and her late husband, Milton Ziems.

In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to the Toledo Zoo Conservancy or St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
