DAVIS

Michael E. Sr. "Maddog"

Michael E. Davis Sr. "Maddog," 62, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 1, 2015, after a courageous battle with Metastatic Melanoma Cancer. He was born in Jellico, Tennessee on December 3, 1952, to Jean and Everett Davis. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1970 and then proceeded to proudly serve in the United States Army from July 12, 1972, to January 21, 1974. He was part of the last draft of the war and served with the Lance Missile Crew. Upon Michael's completion of his tour of duty, he worked various jobs before beginning his career at Willy's Jeep in 1977. Michael married the love of his life, Debra Jastrenski on June 19, 1980. During a period of layoff, Michael furthered his education and received a degree in law enforcement from Owens Technical College. He worked as an officer in Wayne, Ohio and acting Chief in Bradner, Ohio until 1985, he then returned to Chrysler Jeep for the remainder of his working career. He retired from Chrysler Jeep in 2008 with 32.5 years of service.

Michael was a member of Local 12 Region 2B and served as Chairman of Local 12 Veterans Retirement Committee. He was also a member of Jeep Unit Veterans Committee for 15 years where he was awarded multiple awards and recognitions.

Michael loved traveling with his wife, Debra throughout the United States and Canada on his BMW motorcycle. He was a 35 year member of BMW's MOA. Mike also loved to work out, hunt, fish, and was an avid Ohio State fan.

Michael will be deeply missed by all those who loved and respected him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mable and Wilse Cox and John and Audrey Davis. Michael's survivors, heartbroken at his loss, include his loving wife, Debra; daughters, Dawn (Chet) Pieper, Summer (Keith) Stewart and son, Michael (Rima) Davis Jr.; grandchildren, Hayley (Joe), Hunter, and Jordon Egbert, Raegen and Reese Stewart, Logan and Michael Davis III; his loving parents, Jean Davis, Toledo, Ohio and Everett Davis, Chatsworth, Georgia and sisters, Janice Sharon Arnold, Cheryl Washburn, and Cathy Decant; as well as beloved friends and cousins, Paul and Kathy Peace. Michael is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and his faithful cat, Mookie.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the many friends and neighbors, especially George Purnia, Bob Kemp, and Angie Box who helped care for and keep Michael comfortable and at peace in his final days.
