Michael L. "Mr. G" Gladieux

Michael Lawrence Gladieux, affectionately known as "Mr. G," 72, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2017 at home with his loved ones surrounding him after a long, valiant battle with lung cancer and COPD. He surpassed the doctor's prediction of life with his COPD by eight years. He was born in Toledo, OH to Robert and Betty Gladieux.

Leaving behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Susan; and two devoted sons, Scott of Lambertville, MI and Gregory (Kari) of Anchorage, AK; and his adoring sister, Carol (Dick) Isaacson of Columbia, SC. Mike was dearly loved by Sue's large family. There are many nieces and nephews that have fond memories of Uncle Mike.

A 1963 graduate of Whitmer High School where he played football. While at Whitmer Mike was the star of the Whitmer Circus, modeled after the olympics. If asked about college Mike would tell you he went to the school of hard knocks.

Michael married Susan Major on July 3, 1965 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania, OH. Mike and Sue recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Prudential Insurance Co. employed Michael for many years until he became an independent agent with his own agency. While at Prudential he became a member of their Million Dollar Roundtable, an accomplishment he was very proud of.

Mike loved the outdoors and shared this love with his sons and the neighborhood kids. Fishing and hunting were his passion taking him and sons Scott and Greg to the Lower and Upper Peninsula of Michigan deer hunting every year for 30 years. Mike also enjoyed woodworking and many friends and relatives were fortunate to receive gifts of his original and creative designs.

A celebration of his life will be held August 6th from 2 – 4 p.m., at Wildwood's Ward Pavilion, 4830 W. Central Ave., Toledo, OH (East Entrance).

The value of a life is measured in terms of how much of it was given away.
