Michael Scott Obituary
09/03/1953 - 10/15/2024
Michael H. "Mike" Scott, age 71, of Ottawa Lake, MI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Sylvania, surrounded by his wife, sons and loving family. He was born on September 3, 1953 to Frank and Jessie Scott in Toledo. Mike graduated in 1971 from Sylvania High School. He worked for the Toledo Police Department for 25 years, before retiring, and at the same time attended the University of Toledo where he obtained his Law Degree. Mike practiced law for over 20 years before retiring a second time.
Mike enjoyed traveling with his family and taking fishing trips to Canada and in most recent years Myrtle Beach. Mike spent many years coaching youth baseball; coaching not only his sons' but his grandson as well. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and made the trip to Detroit any chance he could.
His family was his greatest passion. Watching his grandchildren's sporting events, school functions, just being with them made him happy. Mike was the best Grandad and loved spoiling his ten grandchildren. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Runyon; in-laws, Melvin and Georgia Zaciewski.
Left to cherish Mike's memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Darla Scott; sons, Mike (Heather), Matt (Natalie), and Brian (Gabby) Scott; grandchildren, Kylie, Jake, Makenna, Raelynn, Gwen, Jude, Blane, Harrison, Eleanor, and Elizabeth; siblings, Diana Emery, Richard "Fat Rai" Scott, and Gail Kenney; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd., Toledo, OH 43617 (419-392-9500). Funeral Services will begin Monday, October 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Darla, Richard, Diana, Gail-I am so sorry to hear about Mike. I will never forget our many trips to Virginia/Wash DC in the station wagon-2 moms & 7 kids...watching Mike toss hard boiled eggs out the back window with that deep belly laugh!! May all your memories keep him close to your heart!

Darla and family so sad to hear of your loss. I have lost Many good childhood memories of Mike and his family. Jogging through sylvan square with Mike and Stan peirson tossing a football as we ran. Not to mention some of the mischief we got into. I´ll never forget riding on mikes Honda 70 to some lake going 45 mph while semis wizzed passed us at 70
