Mollie Fedlock Obituary

Mollie R. Fedlock, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2006, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 28, 1916, to the late Jacob and Eva Rubin.
She was married to Charles Eugene Fedlock for many happy years. Charles preceded her in death on November 23, 1962. Also preceding her in death were her daughter, Elaine Pilrose, sister, Rose, and brothers, Isadore, Frank and Samuel.
She is survived by her two daughters, Francine of Toledo, and Jackie (Michael) Oricko of Maumee; son-in-law, Daniel Pilrose Jr.; three grandsons, Danny Pilrose, Charles J. Oricko and Phillip Oricko; special friend, Thelma Wexler, and a host of of nieces, nephews, and many long-time friends.
Mollie owned and operated Mollies Variety Store on Blaine Street for many years. The store was a gathering point for all the children in the neighborhood. Mollie always had a kind word and a piece of candy for the children. When the store was sold, Mollie went to work at the Lucas County Welfare Department, where she rose to the position of Director of Training. She was very active in the AFSCME union, acting as an officer for many years. She retired from there after 35 years. She stayed in contact with her many friends and co-workers after retirement. Mollie never missed sending birthday and anniversary cards. Those cards will be sorely missed by her friends and family. Mollie was a member of the Pioneer Women/Na'amt organization and was a life member of Etz Chayim Sisterhood. Mollie loved all animals and opened her home to stray dogs and cats throughout her life.
Services will be Thursday, February 9, 2006, at Robert H. Wick-Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N. Reynolds Rd., at 1 p.m. with visitation beginning at noon. Burial will be in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family would like to request that any donation be made to the Pioneer Women/Na'amt or Etz Chayim Synagogue.

The Family has my deepest sympathy. I remember the days we worked together at Lucas County. She was a joy to work with.

I am one of the children who enjoyed many hours in the company of Mollie at her store. I came in for the magazines and candy. Peggy Brown and I would sit on the floor in the back drinking Cokes and eating chips. I was so fascinated by Mollie's knitting that I learned how also. To this day I enjoy the hobby and think of her a lot. She was a wonderful friend to the kids in the neighborhood.

My deepest sympathies to her family.
