Nancy Roder Obituary

Nancy J. Roder, 58, of Perrysburg Township, died Saturday, December 3, 2005, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Toledo, OH on January 14, 1947, to Charles W. and Margene (Kier) Achor and was married in Miami, FL on May 1, 1988, aboard The Song of America to Thomas Roder.
When faced with the reality of cancer, she was courageous and inspiring in her struggle, while ensuring faith in the fact that the Lord would soon be calling her home. Nancy was an eternal optimist, believing in the good nature of people, strengthening the bond of her family, and her resolve to dwell in the house of the Lord.
Nancy was a longtime employee serving Sky Bank in Rossford, Ohio and Elmore, Ohio. Many were blessed by her kind nature and strength. Nancy was a devoted, dedicated officer and friend of the F.O.E. Rossford Eagle's #2322 auxiliary, who also enjoyed fund raising activities, spending time with her family, especially sleepovers, and caring for others while exhibiting a truly selfless nature. She was a longtime member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Toledo.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas; children, Robert Alan Colwell of Sylvania, Jennifer Brooke (Steven) Barbour, Tamra Lynn (Gary) Switlick of Toledo, Anne Marie Roder of Toledo and Timothy John (Jennifer) Roder of Toledo; grandchildren, Charles Robert Colwell, Shelby Nicole Moon and Ty John Roder; mother-in-law, Rachel Louise Roder of Perrysburg; brother, Richard (Sharon) Achor of Oak Harbor, OH and sisters, Linda (Joe) Wealleans of Toledo and Kay (George) Newcomer of Monclova, OH; along with many nieces and nephews and best friends, Dianne "Beakie" and Gary Heft. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Dennis Wealleans.
Friends will be received from 2-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary, Perrysburg, OH (419-874-3133) where Rossford Eagles services will be at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2005, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2440 South St., Toledo, OH with Pastor Mike Matzek officiating. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
Nancy's family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially Sue, Joyce, and Kathy for their knowledge, compassion, and sensitivity to Nancy's final wishes, and also to Toby for assisting Nancy and her family in Nancy's transition into everlasting life with the Lord.
Nancy will be sadly missed by all who knew her and were touched by her grace. Rest in peace Nancy!

Dear Roders,

It seems strange how life can be. I nver knew Nancy's last name, but every time I was at the dirve thru she knew me, and always wanted to know if I had the boys with me to give them a sucker or several. And she would inevitibly ask me when I was joining the Eagles. Needless to say when someone asked me if I knew Nancy had passed away it struck me that it HAD been awhile since I last had the pleasure of our drive thru conversations. Nancy I DO miss you and Roders' I send out my families deepest sympathies.
