Nancy S Stepleton
Nancy S. Stepleton passed away in Toledo, Ohio on October 23, 2023, at the age of 87. She was born in Van Wert, OH to Paul R. and Katherine (Blake) Imler. Nancy was a 1954 graduate of Van Wert High School. She graduated from Parkview School of Nursing in 1957. That same year she married her high school sweetheart, Robert A. "Bob" Stepleton. She moved to Toledo with her mother in 2002 following Bob's death.
Nancy was a Registered Nurse who worked for several physicians in Van Wert until she retired to raise her children. That retirement was brief because Nancy soon found a second career in music which ultimately spanned six decades. Nancy was an accomplished pianist and vocalist who began directing church choirs in 1970, first at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert and later at Grace Lutheran Church in Toledo. She directed choirs of all ages, from children to adults, and remained active in directing up to the time of her death. Nancy also sang with the Towns of Harmony Sweet Adelines Chorus and performed throughout Northwest Ohio as a member of the Lovin' Tunefuls quartet.
Nancy was an avid golfer and a former member of Willow Bend Golf Club. She was a passionate fan of the athletic pursuits of her children and grandchildren and travelled throughout the country to attend their various sporting events, many of which took place at the college level. Nancy attended almost every single one of their competitions, be it a golf match, swimming and diving meet, or a basketball game. She was the number one cheerleader for her family. Nancy loved the Buckeyes, was a skilled knitter, and played a daily game of Wordle. She will be remembered by many as the carpool driver for her grandkids and their neighborhood friends. Nancy was devoted to her family, was always willing to lend an ear to a friend, and she loved the Lord.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her identical twin sister, Mary Lou Imler. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Joe) Kondalski of Toledo; her son, Scot Stepleton of Ft. Wayne, IN; and her foster daughter, Vicki (Bill) Moore of Convoy, OH; grandchildren, RJ and Ian Kondalski, Carter Stepleton, Michael (Angela) Moore, and Nicole (Adam) Blair; great-grandchildren, Ivan and Lydia Blair; her brother, James (Beverly) Imler of Tega Cay, SC; brother-in-law, Theodore Stepleton of Lima, OH; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania, OH on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Toledo, OH on Monday, October 30, 2023, with visitation at 10:00 a.m., the funeral at 11:00 a.m., and with Pastor Brenda Peconge presiding.
