Nathan Czerniejewski Obituary

Nathan Richard Czerniejewski

Nathan Richard Czerniejewski, 50, of Holland, OH, passed away in his home on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. He was born June 14, 1974, to Richard and Marilyn Czerniejewski. In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by the love of his life, Jennifer (Osstifin) Czerniejewski; sisters, Andrea (Peter) Areddy and Megan (Jason) Thomas; brother-in-law, Jason (Cammie) Osstifin; beloved nieces and nephews, Anna, Kari, and Lilli Areddy; Ainsley, Rowan, and Wyatt Thomas; and Arielle, Wynter, and Caden Osstifin; mother-in-law, Linda Osstifin; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John "Jack" and Anna Carr, and Joseph and Olga Czerniejewski; and father-in-law, Paul "Ozzie" Osstifin.

From early on, Nate had a fierce pack of friends who were more like brothers. Playing Pacesetter soccer and then going on to Northview and Southview High School teams, he was the goal keeper - the last line of defense. He carried that role through to all other parts of his life. He was the safety net, always guarding those in his circle.

From there, Nate attended the University of Toledo, where he graduated with a structural engineering degree. He then began his prestigious engineering career at SSOE where he eventually became a principal. He traveled all over the world representing his close-knit team.

Nate filled his free time with his second love - golf. He spent many hours on the course with friends and family and even became the 2017 Highland Meadows Club Champ with his proud father supporting him as his caddy. He could ultimately be found winding down with a cocktail on the patio.

Nate's presence was larger than life. Not only was he 6'4", but he always filled a space with his immense smile, laughter, hugs, and warm words. At gatherings, he was often the first to arrive and the last to leave. He would make sure to connect with everyone in the room with anything from a wisecrack to sage advice.

As a couple, Jen and Nate knew the meaning of living with intentionality. Much of their time was spent supporting their nieces and nephews, celebrating with family, and traveling with friends to sandy beaches and blue skies.

Nate was one of a kind. It wasn't unusual for someone to go out of their way to tell you what an amazing guy he was. He truly left a mark on this world in his 50 years. If only we could have had 50 more.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, from 3-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH 43623. The funeral will be held at St. Joan of Arc Parish Saturday, March 8, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a service that Nate had planned to volunteer with in his retirement - American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery: https://www.cancer.org/support-programs-and-services/road-to-recovery.html

Marilyn & family, so sorry for your loss. We can empathize as we lost our daughter and grandson 8 years ago. Your hurt will never leave but our faith, family and friends can ease our pain a little. I will pray for you and your entire family. May he rest in heavenly peace.

People close to me depended on Nate to be a good friend. You could just see the way they looked at him. I usually saw him after one of us had traveled a long distance. He was always a welcoming face to me. Definitely someone I was always happy to see. Always time well spent with him. I can feel why he was so important to people who saw him more often than I did.
