Patrick Sheehy Obituary

Patrick Joseph Sheehy

Patrick Joseph Sheehy died on November 8, 2021 at the age of 63 at Heatherdowns Rehabilitation Center in Toledo.

The oldest son of Joseph P. and Katherine A. (Retzke) Sheehy, Patrick went to Our Lady of Perpetual Help grade school and St. John's High School for one year. He transferred to Bowsher High School where he flourished, playing on the football and tennis teams and acting in school plays. Upon graduation, Patrick attended Ohio University and later Hillsdale College, where he majored in English. In November of his senior year, he was psychiatrically hospitalized and never completed his studies. Patrick was briefly employed in construction as an electrician's apprentice and other hands-on pursuits before he was deemed disabled due to his mental illness.

Patrick was preceded in death by his mother and father; and his older sister, Mary Sheehy. He is survived by his sister, Jane Kramer (Paul Giblin) of Evanston, Illinois; his brother, Kevin Sheehy (Rich Radocchia) of Shelton, Connecticut; his sister, Maureen Sheehy (Steve Catton) of Orinda, California; his stepmother, Sylvia M. Sheehy of Toledo; as well as a niece and two nephews.

In later years, Pat was a loving brother and friend, who had a charming sense of humor and was always quick with a thank you. Pat found fellowship and support at Chapter 5 (Southwyck) for a number of years. The family would like to thank all those who supported him at the Zepf Center, Kevin McManus, and those who lovingly cared for him at Heatherdowns and from Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Funeral services will be private. Anyone wishing to make a gift in Patrick's memory is encouraged to make a donation to the Zepf Center or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Went to Bowsher with Pat. Became friends and cheated off each other during Mr. Harris pop quizzes in physiology 101. Good guy. Always was happy and will always be remembered. Gods gain, our loss.

Shehes were neighbors of my family about 60 years ago, and Pat and I were playmates at an early age and so I always had a fond regard for Pat and remember him well from our time at Bowsher H.S. Condolences to his family.
