Raymond C. Bottles, 81, of Grafton, OH, retired railroader, beloved husband of Cathey; loving father of Brett (Rebecca) Bottles, Dr. Rebecca (Dr. Jonathon) Dehart, Todd (Gina) Skelton; brother of Joann Tucholski and the late Don; son of the late Donald and Neomi Bottles; passed away on December 10, 2022.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, and Friday, 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. service at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1853 South Ave., Toledo, OH. Burial to follow in Lake Township Cemetery. As a young student brakeman I worked with Ray one day out of Airline Yard to Cleveland with a "hot shot" van train. Ray refused to allow the train to move until a full water bottle was brought on board. We had the east main tied up for over an hour and the dispatcher was furious. Ray was a man of principals and a rule was a rule. Ray said it was the railroad, after all, who wrote the rules. Everyone respected him.

I was in the Mechanical Dept and the cabooses had to be in tip top shape or else the train wouldnt move Ray had a lot of clout!!!
