Reagan Delaney

Reagan Delaney Tokes, 21, of Columbus, OH and formerly of Monclova Township was tragically taken from us on Thursday, February 9, 2017.
Reagan was born on March 13, 1995 in Edgewood, Kentucky to Toby and Lisa
(McCrary) Tokes. She was a vibrant, young woman who had a passion for life and an amazing smile that lit up the room. Reagan was an honor student and graduate of
Anthony Wayne High School where she was a four year varsity tennis player and also played on the lacrosse team. She was very proud to attend The Ohio State University, where she was currently a senior and was looking forward to graduating in May with a degree in Psychology. Reagan loved animals, being outside in nature and spending time with her family and friends whom she cherished dearly. Her upbringing in the Christian faith taught her to have a passion to help others less fortunate than herself.
Reagan is survived by her parents, Toby and Lisa Tokes of Parkland, FL.; sister, Makenzie Rae Tokes; their dog, Ellie; grandparents, Linda McCrary, Frank and Teena Tokes; great-grandmother, Garnet Whaley; uncles, Jamie Tokes, Jeff (Amanda) McCrary and their children, Keegan, Maeve and Rylan; aunt, Kris Stewart; and many loving cousins, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her great- grandparents; grandfather; great-uncles.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett St., Maumee, OH 43537 where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, with Pastor Scot Ocke and Pastor Joanie Schilling officiating. Burial services will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the Reagan Tokes Memorial Fund at any Huntington Bank location. Arrangements are being handled by Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, OH 43551 (419-874-3133). Condolences to the family may be made to

As a short north fellow worker may she have a heightened place where she is the center of what light is, remaining, a creation thereof. In the heart of what I have formerly experienced in the past loss of my great loved one also, may they both meet as friends and await us. :) Much love and comfort today and forever until we meet again. It would be an HONOR to share my experience with Reagan's mother if I could. I put something by my window for her as a token of losing a special person in the lives of many. Our deepest condolences to your entire family. We never met Reagan, but Jeff was a dear friend at BGSU. Although it has been many years since we've been in touch, I still remember him talking about his beautiful niece--his love and pride for Reagan were evident in every word he spoke. Our prayers are with you all.

I'm an OSU grad student. I was never lucky enough to meet Reagan, but I wish I had. A beautiful light has gone out in this world. My heart goes out to all of you. As the mother of a little girl, I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through. I wish there was something I could do to ease your pain. I will continue to pray for you, for the peace that passes understanding, and for justice for your girl.

To the family of Reagan Tokes,
Like so many others, I was never fortunate enough to have met Reagan. My daughter who attends the University of Illinois called me and told me the horrible news. I find myself thinking of your family daily...
Someday when we are all in Glory we will understand why this had to happen. Until then hang on to each other and the strength of our Lord.

As with so many others who have reached out to your family, I did not know Reagan, but I am completely devastated at the loss of this bright and beautiful girl. They say there is strength in numbers, and I hope that you can somehow find some comfort, knowing that you have an army of people who are sending you all love, light, and prayers. I've never known of so many people in mourning over someone that they had never met. She was obviously so very special.

I don't know you or your family however my heart is aching for your family .... I lost my dear wonderful talented son of just 20 yrs old 3.5 years ago to a tragic single vehicle accident while on his way to work on a Friday morning , and I know the pain of a having a wonderful child taken away tragically . All I can say is God WILL open up to you and get you through this , the pain will never go away but it will become more bearable in time. Be very prepared for many spiritual signs from your daughter .....she WILL let you all know that she is ok and that she's in eternity , she will be with u all most of the time and these signs and messages will help with the loss , "their spirit never dies" and as you are able to begin to cope with the loss in time the signs and messages will slowly fade till they are no longer. I think God allows this to take place to help the ones left behind to heal.

I don't know your family but you all have been on my heart and in my prayers this week. Reagan's story has touched so many in Ohio and across our nation. What a beautiful young woman clearly ready to change the world for good with a degree in Psychology. God will bring good out of your tragedy; though at this time that doesn't ease your pain or burden. Praying Gods Holy Spirit will bring you peace and comfort in the days, weeks and months ahead.

It almost seems selfish to tell you of my tears for Reagan, I did not know her, nor do I know anyone related or close to her. I'm simply an OSU student, who works in and loves the short north and I was deeply shaken my the tragic and senseless loss of Reagan's life.

I wish I had known her, I bet we would be friends. I'm a psych major and animal lover and Ohio State is my favorite place on earth.

For every stranger who has commented, know there are countless others who are thinking of you all and hold Reagan in our hearts.

There are no words to take away the pain, the gravity of the situation. I pride myself on being able to come up with words of comfort and I'm coming up blank.

I want so badly to be able to take even an ounce of pain away from you all so you have one less ounce weighing on your shoulders.

I hope you can find comfort in how Reagan lived. It is so clear she touched so many lives. I'm in awe of her scholarship fund. 1700 people and growing have donated to honor Reagan's memory.

I think how unfair it is, Reagan was only leaving work, I and many of my friends have walked much further alone after leaving bars, it could have easily been one of us. Reagan is a hero. She is going to change the way we allow our justice system to operate. She is going to change me for the better. No longer will I allow myself to question the meaning of my life, when someone as vibrant and full of life as Reagan doesn't have the option to live hers, so people like me (and every other stranger touched by her story) must live to keep her memory and message alive, as I know all her friends and family will do the same.

Reagan has inspired me to live a life to help others. Anything good that comes out of me in the coming years, will be because I read Reagan's story, and learned who she was and will remember this for the rest of my life.

With heartfelt sympathies and love from a stranger, I hope you find peace and comfort in the hundreds of people who will keep you in our thoughts from days and years to come.
