Regina Janowiecki Obituary

JANOWIECKI

Regina M.

Regina M. Janowiecki, 88, of Sylvania Twp., passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014, at the Ebeid Hospice

Residence with her 3 loving daughters, Jena, Jennifer and Karen by her side. Regina was born on January 23, 1926, to Cecilia and Joseph Fischbach. A lifelong Toledo resident, she belonged to St. Joseph's Church of Sylvania for 21 years and a parishioner of St. Catherine's of

Sienna Parish for 61 years, where she was active in the "Ladies Alter and Rosary

Society." Regina graduated from St. Ursula Academy in 1944.

After high school, Regina was employed by Champion Spark Plug as a "plug tamper" for 44 years, where she met the love of her life, Clarence Janowiecki. They married on April 7, 1951, and shared 62 years of love and friendship. She was active with the Girls Scouts of America for 5 years, when her girls were younger. While she was laid off from Champion for 5 years, she sold Avon from door to door to interact with other women and encourage them to better themselves. She continued to stay active in her life as part of the bowling league "Champion Lady Howlers" at Westland Lanes, card clubs, and St. James Swim Club. She was a major volunteer to the Sylvania Senior Center, she put in the most volunteer hours for 2013, and knitted a record 700 hats in 22 months. After her husband's passing last year at the Franciscan Care Center, she continued to assist with the patient activities and visit with the residents. Regina has been an

active member of Beta Sigma Phi chapter Alpha Tau Masters for 32 years, where she served as president, treasurer and city council representative and was awarded "Women of the Year." Regina will be best remembered for her love of her grandchildren, Christopher and Katie, who were the highlight of her life and her two furry grandchildren dogs, Buster and Joey. Regina's wit and humor were always a welcome sight to everyone she met. She will be missed very much by friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clarence (deceased March 17, 2013). Regina is survived by Regina (Fred, deceased April 26, 2013) Rambo, Jennifer (David) Brattain, Karen (David) Mellen; grandchildren, Christopher and Katie Brattain; brothers-in-law, Richard (MaryAnn) Janowiecki and Donald (Carol) Janowiecki; sisters, Rita Hayes and Margaret Mossing.

The family will receive guests Sunday, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Dowling Funeral Home, 7509 New West Road at King Road, (King Rd. between Central and Sylvania Ave.) Toledo, 419-841-8111. A Beta Sigma Phi memorial service will be held Sunday at 6:30 p.m., with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 5373 South Main St., Sylvania, Ohio, on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will

follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Ursula

Academy, Regina's alma that she supported for 70 years. For additional information or condolences, please visit
