Richard Henderly Obituary
Richard F. Henderly, 91, of Genoa, Ohio passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 2, 1929, the son of Ivah M. (Wilkinson) and Arthur G. Henderly. Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during the Korean War. He married Donna L. Holder in Toledo, Ohio on April 30, 1954 and she preceded him in death on February 11, 1996. Richard was a 1947 graduate of Waite High School in Toledo.
Richard worked at his father's store, the original Modern Floors, Inc. in Toledo, and later owned and operated Henderlys, Inc. Carpet Gallery & Country Oak Shoppe; he was in the flooring trade for over 40 years. In retirement, he worked part-time at Genoa Custom Interiors.
Richard was a former Boy Scout Leader and Kiwanis Club member of Genoa, Ohio and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include children, Kelly R. (Karl) Douglass of Doylestown, PA, Kurt A. (Stephanie) Henderly of Rossford, OH, grandchildren, Jeanne, Allison, Andy, Dana, Kelly, Renee, and Shannon; and 7 great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Arthur Henderly, Jr., and Clifford J. Henderly, and son, Gordon D. (Jennifer) Wend.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no funeral services will be held at this time; a celebration of life will take place at a later date. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials in Richard's name may be made to Clay Genoa Volunteer Fire Department. Dick and I go back to at least 1931 across the street from each other. he was older than me by one month and went to school at Raymer and Waite. We had a visit in Germany where we served in 1952/53. Knew each other and had many boyhood adventures. Heckies pond comes to mind as a place we fished,payed hockey and swam ( our Mothers didn,t know that). Dick go on and prepare a place for me to have many further adventures.
