Richard J. "Dick"
Richard J. Martinez, 80 years, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012, in the Ebied Hospice Center in Sylvania. He was born in San Antonio, TX, on December 23, 1931, to Refugio and Herminia Martinez. Richard served in the United States Army, upon his honorable discharge he worked for the Jeep Corporation for over 30 years, where he retired from.
He had a love for golfing and the Cleveland Browns. He is survived by his wife, Rachelle Martinez; daughters, Christine, Diana and Carol Martinez; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Mary Rodriguez, Gilbert Martinez, Gloria Pina, Alfred Martinez, Alice Ramirez and John Martinez. Also surviving is his first wife, Frances Martinez.
Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Saturday, October 20, 2012, from 2-8 p.m. where a memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the family. Please view and sign the on-line guest registry at CoyleFuneralHome.com

I remember when I first met Richard, it was Family First, golf a close second, and the Pabst Blue Ribbon. He always had that distinct whistle that he used so his kids new it was him. I used it for my kids, thanks for letting me borrow it Richard. He will truly be missed also for the beautiful smile and greta jokes.

I will never forget the love and compassion you showed to me as a child and how many times you rescued me with that big ol smile, arms out, along with kind words always glad to see me! I spent a lot of time in the Martinez house when I was a little girl, where my Uncle Ricky taught me how to play euchre and he would always have Maraschino cherries to make me Shirley Temples. He was such a nice man and will be greatly missed.
