Richard Tillman Obituary
Dick died peacefully June 18, 2021 in Rio Vista, CA surrounded by family. He was born March 13th, 1927 to Joseph and Hildegard (Herring) Tillman in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Notre Dame University and was proud to have served in the Navy during WWII. After returning home he became the Production Manager at Unicast Steel Corp, a family-owned business where he worked alongside his brothers, Joseph, Gerald "Jerry" and Bill. Dick will long be remembered for his deep and abiding love of the Catholic faith. He was an active parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rio Vista where he was "the fixer of all things" and used his vast knowledge to repair and restore the parish that he loved. He also served on the Knights of Columbus and volunteered as an usher. Dick was always "ginger peachy", loved the game of golf, the Fighting Irish, and his big crazy family. He also loved to dance, and he perfected what we all love to call the "Tillman Shuffle".
He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Marjorie (Heiing); his wife of 24 years, Doris (Nolan); beloved granddaughter, Rachael Tillman; great-granddaughter, Tatum Dull; grandson, Jim Prezioso; son-in-law, Matt Peterson; and daughter-in-law, Carol Tillman. He is survived by his 12 children, Dick (Darlene), Lynn, Mike (Mary Carol), Jan Roberts (Garry), Marsha Hamernick, Matt, Terrie Hagstrom (Carl), Kitty, Sally Kreger (Mike), Karen Hutt (Rick), Dan (Jamie) and Mary Peterson; his 4 stepchildren, Julie (Tom), Laurie (Todd), Heather and Matt, 39 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at a later date in Houghton Lake, Michigan, where he will be laid to rest. Memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 130 S. 4th Street, Rio Vista, CA 94571.
