Rita Olman Obituary

OLMAN Rita M. Rita M. Olman, 81, of Maumee, OH, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2007, in St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 16, 1926, in Toledo to Peter and Mary (Hughes) Mossing. Rita was a dedicated homemaker, and partnered with her husband, Joe in starting the Joe Olman State Farm Insurance Agency in 1957. She belonged to a variety of groups and organizations such as: the Maumee Study Club, Bridge Club, Catholic Ladies of Columbus, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee and served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed decorating, gardening and crocheting. Rita was an avid sports enthusiast and dedicated cheerleader at all her children's sporting activities. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Rita will be missed by all who knew her. Rita is survived by her loving husband, Joe W Olman, who she married March 2, 1946; children, Lynn E. (Joyce) Olman of Maumee, OH, Ronald R. (Vykki) Olman of Kansas City, MO, Kent J. (Susan) Olman of Maumee, OH, Kimberly A. (Jean Sabin) Toscano of Maumee, OH, Kevin P. Olman of Rockford, IL and Lisa M. (Bob) Nichols of Englewood, FL; grandchildren, Justin J. (Donna) Olman, Ryan M. (Kara) Olman, Trey J. (Kirsten) Olman, Jarrod M. (Maitane) Olman, Stephanie A. Olman, Amber M. Toscano, Jacob H. Olman, Joeal J. Olman, Mark A. Mercer and Scott G. Mercer; sisters, Doris M. (Edward) Smith and Eileen R. (Frederick) Nelson; brothers, Robert (Joan) Mossing and Kenneth (MaryEllen) Mossing. In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her son, Kurt Olman and brothers, Cletus, Lawrence, Norbert and Earl Mossing. Family and friends may visit Friday from 2-8 p.m. in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH. Funeral services will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Maumee. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Maumee. When I think of "aunt" Rita, I recall a lovely, gentle woman who carried herself with such grace and dignity. Her beauty, both inside and out, was evident by her endearing smile and the twinkle in her eye. Rita was (and still is) as classy as they come.
