ZEDAKER Robert D. Robert D. Zedaker, 88, of rural Stryker, Ohio passed away Thursday morning, June 7, 2012, peacefully in his home in the presence of loved ones. He was born August 12, 1923, in Cecil, Ohio to the late Everett Todd and Ursula Mae (Shanks) Zedaker. He married Virginia Nickerson on April 24, 1954, in the Chapel of the Garden, Angola, Indiana and she survives. Bob was employed for many years in construction with Baker and Schindler Contractors and was a life member of Local 18 International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a Stryker High School graduate celebrating his 70 class reunion. Bob was a WWII army veteran with the 4th Infantry Regiment. He was a avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and enjoyed attending Stryker school athletic events. He was a member of Stryker United Methodist Church. He enjoyed helping the Ruffer family with farming for many years. Survivors include, his wife, Virginia; who was the love of his life. Bob visited her daily at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home. Also surviving, granddaughter, Brooke Lauber-Cobb, and her husband, Jeff, of Perrysburg, Ohio; grandson, Adam Lauber, of Truckee, California and his daughter, Piper Lauber; special grandson, Andrew (Samantha) Lauber, and their children, Oliver and Sawyer Lauber. Special grandson, McKenzie (Audri) Lauber. Bob was loved by many nieces and nephews and all that knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Zedaker; daughter, Carla Burkhart; five brothers, Charles, Ollie, Everett, Raymond, and Calvin; two sisters, Alice Deevers and Pauline Jodry. Memorial service and celebration of Bob's life 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Fairlawn Haven Chapel, Lutz Road, Archbold, Ohio. Minister Jeffrey B. Cobb officiating. Public graveside service and interment, 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Evansport Cemetery, rural Evansport, Ohio. Military graveside services will be accorded by the Stryker American Legion Post. Friends may call 2:00-8:00 p.m. Monday in Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, Ohio.
