Roger Baxley Obituary
Roger C. Baxley, 74, of Sylvania, passed away on January 1, 2021 in The Toledo Hospital. He was born in Toledo on August 31, 1946 to Dorothy (Lovett) and Charles Baxley who both preceded him.
Roger studied business at Stautzenberger College in Toledo. He was employed at the Lucas County Department of Jobs and Services as the Director of Central Services. He was on the Management Team for contract negotiations with the union and created a manual for the Frauds and Collections Department that was distributed to all county employees as well as other county departments for reference. Roger volunteered at the Hillsdale Health Center in Hillsdale, Michigan where he became the first male to join the Hillsdale Auxiliary. He was an active member of the Toledo Area PT Cruisers Club. He and his wife Judy built a home on Lake Diane in Hillsdale Michigan where they were able to enjoy many years of "Lake Life" together. Roger was also an amazing drummer playing with many well known rock and country bands throughout the years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judy; daughter, Dawn (Steve) Miller; grandchildren, Brooke (Scott) Schumaker, Chandler Miller, Kemery Miller, Claire Miller; great-grandchildren, Tauriel, Easton, Piper, Paisley; siblings, Dan (Bonnie) Baxley and Sue Fauser.
Friends are invited to visit from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave. Masks will be required for entry and social distancing guidelines will be followed. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial donations are asked to consider the March of Dimes as three out of four of his great-grandchildren were born pre-maturely and his family is very supportive of the organization.
