Rose Mitro Obituary
Rose M. (Ferrara) Mitro, 100, of Sylvania, entered eternal life while at home under the loving care of her sons. The epitome of faith and love, she went home to her heavenly Father and her beloved husband on Ash Wednesday and Valentine's Day, February 14, 2024.
Rose was born on October 8, 1923, in Detroit, MI, the oldest of Andrew and Josephine (Bono) Ferrara's six children, who were equal parts siblings and best friends.
Rose graduated from Central Catholic High School, and served as the bookkeeper at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park for 37 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the VFW Post 606 Ladies Auxiliary.
On June 10, 1950, Rose married the man of her dreams, John J. Mitro. Together, they built a home and a family in West Toledo. The years they spent together were filled with countless beautiful moments and memories, traveling, and giving themselves fully to their family.
Rose lived a life of faith and family, of unwavering strength, sensibility and fun. Among the many gifts she gave to those she loved and this world, the greatest were her love and a roadmap of what it means to live life well and fully.
Rose joins her family in heaven, her parents; husband; siblings Joseph (Mary Ann) Ferrara, Marie Ferrara, Josephine (James) Robb, and Lucy (Walter) Raftery; and sister-in-law Carol Ferrara.
Her legacy and love live on in her loved ones here on earth: her cherished sons, Steven (Juliane) Mitro and William Mitro; her grateful granddaughters, Angela (Jonathan) Woodward, Stephanie (David) George and Christina Mitro; her treasured great-grandsons, John W. Mitro and Evan, Emmett and Elliott George; her beloved baby brother, Sam Ferrara; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous friends.
Rose was laid to rest privately at Calvary Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held March 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Toledo and final arrangements are being handled by Ansberg-West Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Most Blessed Sacrament Parish or Heartland Hospice.
