RoseAnn Pastor Obituary

RoseAnn Pastor

RoseAnn "Bubbles" Pastor, age 82, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025. She was born on July 16, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, to Joseph and Rose (Marusz) Varga. RoseAnn was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. She worked as a dietary aid at Little Sisters of the Poor for many years. RoseAnn enjoyed reading, gardening, collecting rocks, and coffee. Many times, she could be found at the Oregon senior center playing bingo or assisting with events. She was a one-of-a-kind person; she never complained and always brought a smile to the faces of those she cared about with her fun stories and unique catch phrases. Most of all, she loved spending time with her Hungarian family.

Sadly, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and made the decision to undergo surgery. Dr Kerri Simo removed her pancreas, gallbladder, spleen, and some of her liver. Despite these setbacks, RoseAnn didn't let this slow her down and with the support of friends and family took on a challenging new life. Those close to her often remarked that regardless of her situation, "she's a tough ole bird." Her daughter would like to thank Dr. Simo and RoseAnn's PCP, Dr. Patricia Vega, for the roles they played in caring for her mother and extending her life.

RoseAnn is survived by her daughter, Ellyn Anne Pastor, and her fiancé, Jordan Penley. She is also survived by her siblings, Patricia Lakin, Joanne Thompson, and Carol Surgo; as well as Joan Norman, her cousin, who has been her caregiver since beating pancreatic cancer; and Amy Whitaker, her godchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rose Varga; and her brothers, Joseph Vargo and James Varga.

A memorial gathering will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., where a memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Little Sisters of the Poor St. Martin's Home, 601 Maiden Choice Lane, Baltimore, MD 21228, attn: Sister Mary John.

Dear Family,
My prayers are with your family as you send RoseAnne to heaven. She certainly was a good soul! I had the pleasure to be a fellow Hungarian and through our involvement at the Little sisters. She brought good light to her presence there. Always ready to be involved. Thank you for all she had to give throughout her life.
Most fondly,
Barb Szombati Berry

I went to St. Stephen grade school with RoseAnn and kept in touch. Haven´t seen her in a few years, but kept in touch by phone and texts.
RoseAnn will be missed by me and others!

RoseAnn was my classmate and friend starting with St. Stephens for grade school and Central for high school. A great lady with a mind of her own. Have not seen her or many years and sorry to hear of her passing. Happy to know that she lived a wonder full life . RIP
