Rudolph "Rudy" Torres

Rudy Torres Sr. passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the age of 80 years, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. Born to Leonor (Ruiz) and Robert Torres in Adrian, Michigan, on October 5, 1945, he grew up in Jerusalem Twp., Ohio.
Rudy cherished his Mexican/Native American roots and countless hours listening to his Mexican music. The values instilled in him by his family, and shared them with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom he spent countless hours, and adored, whether it be outings to the park or to watch them play sports.
Rudy dedicated 34 years of his life to American Motors/Jeep and a member of UAW local 12. He retired in 2008, reflecting on a career that not only supported his family but also shaped his character. His retirement was a joyful chapter filled with leisure pursuits and the warmth of family gatherings. A passionate supporter of "The Ohio State" Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, Rudy could often be found cheering enthusiastically on game days. In addition to football, he had a profound appreciation for boxing, never missing a significant fight and eagerly discussing the matches with friends and family.
Most of all, Rudy was a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, spending over 40+ years as a cherished member of the Flanders Road Church of Christ. Before making Flanders his spiritual home, he attended various other churches, instilling the teachings of the Gospel in his children. Rudy's unwavering commitment to his faith was shown in every aspect of his life. He passionately shared biblical scriptures and was known for distributing Christian DVDs to strangers at the local mall, always eager to spread a message of hope and the love of the Gospel.
In addition to his local efforts, Rudy was involved in missionary work in Central America, where he touched the lives of many. His warmth and kindness left a mark on everyone he met. Those who knew him could clearly see that he embraced a life of purpose. Rudy's legacy will forever resonate through the lives he influenced and the faith he lived out daily.
Rudy was preceded in death by his son, Anthony R. Torres; stepdaughter, Theresa Moya (Bais); grandson, Richard M. Bais-Torres; and great-grandson, Jovanni Torres; siblings, brothers, Robert, Tony, Richard, Freddie, Joe and Daniel Torres; sisters, Dolores Navarro, Emma Deluca, Virginia Vargas, Janie Reyna; and brother-in-law, Tony Vallejo; and sister-in-law, Teresa Torres.
Survived by his children, Rudy T. (Lupe), Rachel A., Rudy Jr., Florentino R. (Elsa) Torres, and Helenia R. (Drew) Sanchez; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his siblings, Carlos Sr., Samual E., Jacob Torres, Jesse (Colleen) Torres-Ruiz, Mary Vallejo; his sister-in-law, Lucy Torres; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Also, a special friend, Elder Jeff Blake, from Flanders Church of Christ.
His family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home, 1757 Tremiansville Rd., Thursday, from 2 – 8 p.m., and Friday, at Flanders Road Church of Christ, 5130 Flanders Rd., after 10 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
