Scott Spychalski Obituary

Scott Michael Spychalski

Scott M. Spychalski, 65, of Temperance, Michigan, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025. Scott was born on September 7, 1960, in Toledo, Ohio, and was the son of Roman R. and Nancy L. (Riebesehl) Spychalski. Scott was a 1978 graduate of Sylvania Northview High School. He married Ericka Bittikofer on August 2, 1984.

Scott was a skilled tradesman at DTE Energy for 26 years. He was an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction, always seeking knowledge. He enjoyed music, concerts, and crossword puzzles. He was an excellent cook and grill master. He and his wife hosted many gatherings at their lake house, where music, food, drink, and lake recreation were enjoyed by all who visited. Sharp of mind and adept with his hands, Scott was always repairing, improving, or building something, and he had a particular affinity for Kawasaki 2-stroke motorcycles.

Scott is survived by his family: wife, Ericka Spychalski; sons, Robert Spychalski (Rebecca Longstreth) and Mitchell Spychalski; sisters, Judy Wahlgren and Deb Spychalski; brother, Brian (Beth) Spychalski.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents.

In accordance with Scott's wishes, there will be no visitation or services.

The family would like to express deep gratitude to the caring team at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, whose kindness and gentle care brought comfort and peace to Scott in his final days.

Ericka and Family,
I was shocked to see Scott's obituary in The Blade. I will always remember him and our friendship in our younger years. Scott and you come up in conversation, even now, when I speak to my friends here, about Toledo, and the people I knew growing up there. Scott and I had been friends since 1st grade, 1966, and I hold many memories of the time we spent together, the things we did, the people we knew, and the concerts we went to. I especially remember the time we spent with you, at your cottage, the summer after I was shot. It was a much needed, and appreciated, escape from the city and the stress, and it helped me immensely at the time. I will always be grateful for that!

You have my deepest sympathies, and a sincere hope that the good times you had together will carry you through this time of immense grief. I will be grieving with you, albeit, from a distance, and in a different way, but grieving, none the less.

I am so very sorry to read of Scott´s passing. I had no idea he was ill. I remember babysitting for Scott when he was little. He was a handsome in the way of many of the Spychalski boys. My sincere sympathy to all of his family.
