Sharon DUCAT Obituary

DUCAT Sharon On the morning of July 4, 2010, Sharon left us unexpectedly and was lovingly received into the waiting arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A joyful and caring woman of strong faith and genuine integrity, her loss will be deeply felt by numerous loving family members, close friends and acquaintances. Sharon was born in Toledo, Ohio, with twin sister Susan, on June 4, 1954 to parents Edward and Theresa Kubiak. Sharon spent her early life in Toledo, instilled with strong family values and a proud Polish heritage. She was educated and formed in her faith through Catholic schooling and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1972. Sharon worked tirelessly for The Kroger Co. for 36 years, and through different store locations and employment positions her commitment to dedicated customer service and her fellow employees could rarely be equaled. It was a tremendous point of pride to Sharon, to know and serve her customers, and through this service she developed countless friends, associates and acquaintances by which she will be sorely missed. Sharon was equally devoted to charitable work and made tremendous volunteer efforts, including time and resources, to support The American Cancer Society, Relay For Life, Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure, Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Red Cross, as well as many others. She was also a life-long member and active participant in the United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 75. A loving and special wife of over 34 years, she married Denzel L. Ducat on November 14, 1975. The couple cherished life together, and had two wonderful children, Nathaniel and Rachel, whom they raised in Waterville, Ohio, and have lived for over twenty years. An active mother, Sharon could be counted on to attend and engage in every school and church function, sporting events, rehearsals, recitals, performances, and scout meetings. An avid gardener and animal lover, she enjoyed the outdoors, nature, family, friends and travel. Also very dear to her heart was her love for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Throughout most of the summer months, Sharon and Denny could be found all over the local area and neighboring states pursuing their love of dancing and Polka music. Among their most treasured memories are the nights they spent waltzing together in their beloved vacation home of Frankenmuth, Michigan. Sharon was preceded in death by her father Edward Kubiak. She is survived by her mother, Theresa Kubiak, twin sister Susan Kubiak, brother Larry (Lisa) Kubiak, husband Denzel L Ducat, children Nathaniel and Rachel Ducat, and grandson Miles Haggerty. Family and friends may visit on Friday from 2-8 p.m. in the Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114-128 E. Alexis Rd., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 10:15 in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Adalbert Church at 11 a.m. Memorial tributes may be given to the American Cancer Society or Relay For Life. Please view and share online condolences and memories at www.sujkowski.com . In a life that has now come to a close far too soon, Sharon's vigor and compassion for those around her has guaranteed, that while sadly brief, Sharon's life has created a lasting and far reaching impact that can never be overstated and will never be forgotten. Rest now in the Lord's Peace and lay your tired body down, your footprints are here for us to follow and we trust that they will lead us home.

Nat and family:
So sorry for the loss of your mom. Please remember:

Your mother is always with you. She’s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She’s the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick and perfume that she wore. She’s the cool hand on your brow when you’re not feeling well. She’s your breath in the air on a cold winter day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of the rainbow. She is Christmas morning. Your mother lives inside your laughter and she is crystallized in every tear drop. A mother shows every emotion…happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow…all the while hoping and praying you will only know the good feelings in life.

She’s the place you came from, your first home, and she’s the map you follow with every step you take. She’s your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on Earth can separate you. Not time, not space…not even death.

God Bless you and your family in your time of sorrow but may you find peace knowing that your Mom is watching over you from heaven...

Cause there's holes in the floor of heaven and her tears are pouring down,
that's how you know she's watching,
wishing she could be here now,
and sometimes if your lonely,
just remember she can see,
there's holes in the floor of heaven,
and she's watching over you and me.

Thank you all for your kind words, wonderful stories and hugs. When no words will serve....your actions do,

Ducat Family & Friends,

I'm deeply sorry to hear of this loss. I worked with Sharon at Kroger Southwyck. She always brought great times and made many friends at work.

I could always expect a telephone call in November when Ohio State and Michigan were playing football against each other. (The OSU fight song being played over the phone.) And then another call if Ohio State won the game!

She will be missed and always remembered.
