Sharon Morton Obituary

Sharon (Boyer) Morton

8/31/1940 - 1/19/2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon Cecilia Morton (née Boyer) on January 19, 2026. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, following complications from a stroke she suffered in early December. Sharon was 85. A radiant presence in any room, she brought joy wherever she went, and her family and friends will deeply miss her warm smile and joyful laughter.

The daughter of Paul and Mary Boyer and the eldest of ten children, Sharon was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, and was a proud graduate of St. Ursula Academy. After completing nursing school in 1962, she worked as a nurse in Michigan and California before marrying Dr. Carl Morton in 1966. Together they embarked on a remarkable life that eventually led them to Hawaii, where they raised a beautiful family and made their home for more than four decades.

While living in Hawaii, Sharon was deeply engaged in her community, serving as a SIDS counselor, President of the Honolulu Junior League, and an active member of MADD. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Known for her tremendous elegance and impeccable taste, Sharon moved effortlessly between high society and quiet moments at home with family, bringing grace and warmth to every setting.

Although life took Sharon far from Ohio, it never took Ohio out of Sharon. She was fondly known for wearing heavy sweaters in the tropical Honolulu climate, much to the amusement of her friends. Despite being 5,000 miles away, she remained closely connected to loved ones in the Midwest, traveling back to Ohio several times each year. Upon Carl's retirement from his medical practice, they joyfully returned to Toledo, making their permanent home back where Sharon's life began.

Sharon lived life entirely on her own terms-filled with travel, adventure, style, generosity, intelligence, wit, humor, love, and meaning. She was a dear and loyal friend to many, and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary; and her brother, Michael. She is survived by her loving husband, Carl; her children, Joshua and Goldie; son-in-law, Gregory Hancock; her grandchildren, Quinn and Tate; her granddog, Gus; her siblings, Patricia, Larry, Mary Therese, Christopher, Mark, Donald, Kevin, and Martin; her sisters-in-law, Hannah, Anita, Robin, Meg, and Emie; and her brothers-in-law, Bill and Alan.

A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced. Family and friends will gather to share smiles and laughter and raise a glass of Chardonnay-just as Sharon would have wanted-with her memory forever in our hearts.

To Mark, and the entire Boyer Family, so sad to hear about the passing of your sister. Your family represented everything that was truly special about growing up in the Old West End during the 60's and 70's. May her soul rest in peace.
