Shelley
Shelley Laverne Spight Dula, 77, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014, at UTMC. Born February 3, 1937, to the late James and Rubye Spight in Memphis, TN. She was a member of New Life Church of God in Christ. Mrs. Dula graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, TN and Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, OH. She did graduate study at the University of Toledo. She taught in the Toledo Public Schools and Ohio School System for 35 years before retirement.
She was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, NAACP, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc and Wilberforce Alumni Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Raymond Dula Sr. She is survived by one son, William R. Dula Jr.; two daughters, Danette Dula Givens and Rubye Dula; one sister, Gloria Spight of Memphis, TN; 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 25, 2014, 10 a.m. with funeral services following at 12 noon at New Life Church of God in Christ, 1215 Oakwood St., interment Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
